Vinted Members Voice Displeasure Regarding Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
